Science fiction fans have been having a ball in recent times, especially if you are into Aliens and all of the Xenomorph stuff. However, earlier in the year also saw Dune: Part 2 astonish and amaze audiences around the world, and if you ever felt like a messiah-in-waiting, then the latest showing of Dune Awakening at Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live would have made you more excited.
The brand new gameplay trailer from Funcom showcased the character creation process many would undoubtedly spend hours in, while also highlighting the action that will be part of your journey. This means attacking bases, climbing up sheer cliffs, and enjoying the fun of both melee and ranged combat. All of that will help you establish a foothold on Arrakis, constructing your own base and how that can help your progress on the desert planet.
Naturally, this would be a world full of conflict and tension, but there can also be opportunities to work with others, such as selling your structural blueprints to willing buyers or joining a guild to chase a common cause. When the time comes, venture beyond the Shield Wall and seek out spice, and get ready to engage in PvP battles while trying to avoid the sandworms and manage your water resources against harsh conditions.
If that’s not enough, there is always story content for players to chew through. We already know the Harkonnen will play their part, but it remains to be seen just which other factions will be part of your journey in Dune Awakening.
Dune Awakening is slated for release on PC sometime in 2025, followed by later releases on both PlayStation and Xbox.
