Gamescom 2024 - Dying Light: the Beast Promises Open World Zombie Action

With so many announcements and reveals coming out of Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live, it makes perfect sense that we would be getting a zombie game to look out for in the future. That honour falls to Dying Light: The Beast, a new entry in the franchise coming from Techland.

Not only will players get more undead to mow through, but the new game also sees the return of protagonist Kyle Crane, together with an open world and over 20 hours of gameplay.

That name might not seem familiar if you played Dying Light 2, but Crane was a key figure in Dying Light and Dying Light: The Following. In this standalone title, Crane finally escapes from captivity after 13 years of experimentation, and he wants revenge. But that is not going to be straightforward in Dying Light: The Beast, as the zombies are still around and there is a gargantuan monster roaming the region of Castor Woods.

Thankfully, the experimentations done on Crane have seen zombie DNA woven into his own, opening up the possibilities of different powers and abilities that he can use to even the odds. This includes a “beast-like power” that would likely come in handy against that very same beast in the woods.

Dying Light: The Beast will feature a four-player co-op with shared progression, but solo players can also enjoy the adventure. To make things even sweeter, owners of Dying Light 2: Stay Human Ultimate Edition will receive The Beast for free.

The game will be coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, with no set release window or date set just yet.
