Genki Reportedly Gets Lawyers Visit Following Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks

It’s definitely no secret that Nintendo is preparing for the impending announcement of its next console, the Nintendo Switch 2, which is set to launch in 2025. Of course, the Japanese gaming giant has not said anything official as of yet, but the leaks about how the console looks and potentially function have been springing left and right, with CES 2025 being a key source of information.

Gaming accessory manufacturer Genki, which is a well-known retailer from which gamers can get plenty of third-party items for all consoles, was one of the more significant sources of information. With a variety of Nintendo Switch 2 accessories being shown off at the show, there was also a mock-up of the console being paraded around.

While Nintendo has remained tight-lipped on the console, it seems like the company is not content with letting others steal its thunder, at least allegedly. According to journalist Julien Tellouck, as reported by VGC, who supposedly spoke to a Genki representative, the company was visited by lawyers representing Nintendo.

Fortunately, Genki managed to avoid any legal trouble with the lawyers. The fact that Genki had never signed any official documents with Nintendo, including NDAs, kept them on “safe ground.” But it is evident that Nintendo is not exactly happy with all the leaks going around, especially from an established retailer like Genki.

Nintendo previously officially commented on Genki’s Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, calling it “unofficial,” but that certainly sounds like a company line. Whether that is actually true is a whole other matter, and that is something we will all find out about when the Nintendo Switch 2 eventually launches. Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later in 2025.
