Innovative Action Roguelite Metal Bringer Comes to Steam and PS5

Metal Bringer

The roguelike and roguelite genres have been booming for quite some time now, and there appears always to be something new to discover for players. Now, we can add Metal Bringer, the successor to 2022’s Samurai Bringer, to the list.

This expansive horde-based roguelite is developed by Alphawing and published by PLAYISM. Set in a futuristic sci-fi world where players follow the plight of Suria, a young woman who has been cryogenically frozen for the last 1,000 years. With the help of her androids, known as Labors and giant mechs, called Arms, she fends off waves of hostile androids and robots in search of the remnants of humanity.

Labors act as the player characters and pilots for the Arms, both of which are customisable. Cosmetic customisation is available, such as changing physical features and colors, and by swapping out different parts, players can alter fighting styles to better suit their play style.

After defeating an enemy, there’s a chance they will drop important upgrade items like App Disks. These disks can either be used to upgrade the current Labor or analyzed and saved for the next Labor to make the next run easier.

Resource management also plays a part in the game’s design, as the weapons equipped to Labors and Arms each have a durability rating that can deplete as the run progresses. To circumvent this, players can pick up the weapons of fallen enemies.Enemy weapon blueprints can also be analyzed in order to unlock new weapons and customization options.

This game implements a real-time pixel art generating system, meaning it can take 3D models and animations and turn them into pixel art. Animating and implementing the sprites is a much simpler process. This system, combined with the latest ray tracing technology, makes for one of the best-looking retro-style titles in recent years.

To commemorate the launch, Alphawing is offering both a launch sale and the Bringer Bundle, which contains both Metal Bringer and Samurai Bringer in a single affordable package.

Metal Bringer is now available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
