Meta Quest 3S Brings Affordable, Seamless VR This Holidays

With Meta Connect 2024 starting this week, the technology giant made plenty of announcements, but the biggest highlight has to be the new Meta Quest 3S headset. An alternative option to the already-launched Meta Quest 3, this new headset has plenty going for it that will make consumers very happy as well. Here’s what to expect:

Meta Quest 3S Launch Details

For starters, the Meta Quest 3S comes in two variants. Getting the one with 128GB of storage will cost around US$299.99, whereas plumping for the 256GB model will set you back US$399.99. Both are still cheaper than the Meta Quest 3, which retails for US$499.99 for 512GB of storage.

Powered by the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, users can look forward to faster load times, a smoother performance, and enjoy high-definition graphics both in virtual or mixed reality. As for resolution when using it, the pair of Fresnel lenses provides 1,832 x 1,920 pixels per eye, with adjustable distances to boot. Battery life is currently rated at 2.5 hours with its 4,324mAh battery, with spatial audio support to increase the level of immersion.

Other than that, the Meta Quest 3S sports a different look as well, with cameras that are grouped on the front in a triangular configuration, and features the same mixed reality experience as Quest 3, with 4.5X the resolution and colour compared to Quest 2.

In addition to the software already out, the Quest 3S will integrate Xbox Game Pass, allowing players to enjoy the games on a virtual screen. And if you need to connect socially, the Meta family of apps will work better on the Meta Quest 3S too.

The current launch date for North America is October 15, with pre-orders already live on the digital store. Each pre-order comes with a set of Touch Plus controllers, a subscription ot Meta Quests Plus, a power adapter, as well as Batman: Arkham Shadow.
