Mortal Kombat 2 Debuts Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage First Look

the Mortal Kombat 2 Film Has Finally Revealed Johnny Cage, Who Will Be Played by the Boys Actor Karl Urban.

While it wasn’t perfect, the action and general tone of 2021’s Mortal Kombat movie adaptation satisfied many fans. The original narrative, coupled with iconic characters and those brutal bouts and deaths, came close to a perfect storm, and with the sequel on the way, Warner Bros. PicturesMortal Kombat 2 has the potential to be even better.

The marketing machine is certainly kicking into gear, as the official logo for the film and a poster showing off Karl Urban as Johnny Cage have been shared by the official account and franchise creator Ed Boon via X/Twitter.

“Has anyone seen that cult classic action movie UNCAGED FURY? It has aged surprisingly well….,” tweeted Boo. “Mortal Kombat 2 Movie! I had to make a slight korrection. Koming Soon!”

Sporting the classic blonde locks and movie star sunglasses, the Hollywood action star known as Johnny Cage will be bringing his skills to the tournament, and hopefully, his wisecracking nature as well. As a fan-favourite, it was surprising that the character wasn’t in the first film, but now, his arrival is even more highly anticipated in Mortal Kombat 2.

Written by Jeremy Slater and directed by Simon McQuoid, there are no concrete details as of yet about the plot of Mortal Kombat 2. However, character descriptions have pointed towards an upcoming confrontation with Shao Khan, who has overthrown King Jerrod and turned his queen, Sindel, into an undead thrall. This puts Kitana, the princess, on the path of revenge.

Joining the cast are new members Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, CJ Bloomfield as Baraka, and Damon Herriman as Quan Chi.

The stars from the first movie will also be returning, including Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Max Huang as Kung Lao, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion.

Mortal Kombat 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on October 24.
