MultiVersus Officially Ends Online Support This May With Season 5

Multiversus Will Shut Down All Online Functionality Following the Conclusion of Season 5 at the End of May 2025.

Ah, what could have been. On paper, what Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games attempted to offer with MultiVersus should have led to a highly successful affair. It adopts the Super Smash Bros.-style fighting game mechanics that are friendly to casual gamers, packages it as a free-to-play experience, and injects it with a lineup of iconic characters from the WB universe. However, even with its relaunch strategy, MultiVersus failed to gain the momentum it needed.

Unfortunately, the underperformance has led to severe consequences for the game. Warner Bros. Games has officially announced that the Season 5 content update, which will run from early February to the end of May, will be the game’s final update. This new season will introduce two new characters – Lola Bunny and Aquaman for players to add to their rotation.

Following the update, Warner Bros. Games will officially shut down all online features of MultiVersus, including matchmaking, after May 30. The game will only be playable offline, where players can battle against bots or with up to three friends, removing the competitive arena that many have enjoyed online. More importantly, this offline access will only be available to players who have logged in at least once during Season 5 of MultiVersus.

Like many similar games approaching the end of their lifespan, players will no longer be able to purchase premium currency in MultiVersus. Additionally, the game will no longer be available for download via the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, or Epic Games Store after May 30, 2025.

So, for those who have been enjoying the matchups in MultiVersus, especially online against other players, take note of the May deadline. And if you still want to play the game, be sure to log in to maintain your access to the singleplayer portion of the game from then on.
