NetEase’s Hero Shooter FragPunk Delayed on Consoles, PC Launch Goes Ahead

with the Official Release Date Nearing, Netease Games Suddenly Delayed the Console Release of Fragpunk.

For gamers, the delay of a highly anticipated game can be frustrating. Regardless of the reasons provided by developers or publishers, it remains a disappointing situation. What makes it even worse? When the delay happens close to the originally promised release date. Unfortunately, this is exactly what console gamers eagerly awaiting FragPunk now have to face.

As the planned release date rapidly approached, NetEase Games, the same company behind the likes of Marvel Rivals, suddenly announced a delay for the console versions of its other hero shooter. Meanwhile, the PC version will still launch as scheduled on March 6.

Through their official social media account on X/Twitter, NetEase stated that the delay was necessary due to technical issues affecting the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions. Rather than forcing a subpar performance, they opted to take additional time for optimisation and adaptation.

To compensate for the delay, NetEase has promised that console players will receive all rewards they miss during the waiting period, including in-game currency, cosmetics, and experience points in FragPunk. More information about all of these will be shared at a later date.

For those unfamiliar with the game, FragPunk, developed by Bad Guitar Studio, is a 5v5 hero shooter with a unique twist involving cards. Using a coin-based system, teams can purchase cards that grant special effects to influence the opposing team, such as enlarging their characters’ heads, and help affect how the matches will unfold.

Unfortunately, NetEase Games has not provided a new release date for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of FragPunk. Neither have they given an estimated timeline for when console players can expect the game to launch. For players who cannot wait to try things out, there is always the PC version of the game, which will be available via Steam on March 7.
