Nintendo Direct June 2024 Recap

Following the hustle and bustle of Summer Game Fest 2024 and the Xbox Games Showcase, the relatively short moment of silence has now been broken by Japanese gaming giant Nintendo. At its most recent Nintendo Direct, the company pulled out plenty of stops to show players just what they can expect for the rest of the year on the Nintendo Switch.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

A brand new entry in the storied franchise, players will instead step into the shoes of Princess Zelda in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Wielding the power of the Tri Rod, it will be up to her to save everyone in Hyrule who has gone missing.

The game arrives on September 26, alongside a limited edition, gold Nintendo Switch Lite bearing the Hylian Crest.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

It has only been seven years, but we finally get a taste of the gameplay that awaits in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Not much else was shared about Samus’ next big adventure, but a 2025 release window should hold us till then.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership 

This November 7 will reunite the plumbing brothers for a new adventure in Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood. With a vibrant art style and a journey across Concordia to come, this should be an interesting return for the pair.

Dragon Quest HD-2D Remakes

The highly anticipated HD-2D remakes of the Dragon Quest trilogy were also dated at the Nintendo Direct. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D will be released first on November 14, and Dragon Quest 1-2 HD-2D following in 2025.

Super Mario Party Jamboree

More parties are on the way, as Super Mario Party Jamboree will land on the Nintendo Switch on October 17. Featuring an enormous island resort and five new game boards, prepare to battle it out over more than 110 minigames and, hopefully, keep your friendships intact.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

Ever wanted to show who’s the best at dominating the arcade In this modern age? Then the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics should be on your radar. As shown at the Nintendo Direct, this collection brings X-Men Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and The Punisher in one neat package.

It will launch later in 2024, complete with original songs from the arcade releases, development docs, and never-before-seen art.

The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- 

From the minds of those behind Danganronpa comes The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-, putting players in the shoes of Takumi Sumino. The objective is to protect your school from the appropriately named School Invaders for 100 days, building relationships with 15 other companions who are also in the trenches.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

Tactical, turn-based action comes in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, releasing in 2025 via the creators of Disgaea. Become Marona, a gifted young girl with the power to speak to Phantoms, and try to stop the ghost pirates from taking over.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

Another remake shown at the Nintendo Direct, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven will be getting the full treatment, with English voiceovers, original and rearranged compositions from series composer Kenji Ito, and more. It will release on October 24.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

Coming in less than two weeks’ time, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will bring the ghost-hunting adventure to the Nintendo Switch on June 27.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

Arriving on January 16 next year, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will offer 2-player local co-op, all the stages from the Wii and 3DS versions, and much more for players to experience.

LEGO Horizon Adventures

Fresh from its recent announcement, LEGO Horizon Adventures was on hand at the showcase to provide another look at the upcoming adventure arriving this Holiday season.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension

The gorgeous-looking mobile RPG Fantasian will finally get a release on Nintendo Switch for Holiday 2024 as FANTASIAN Neo Dimension. The enhanced version includes English and Japanese voice-overs and an additional difficulty setting.

Monster combat and farming come together in Farmagia, a new creation by Fairy Tail and Rave Master creator Hiro Mashima. Time to stand up against an evil overload this November 1.

Speaking of Fairy Tale, players will be able to experience the dramatic retelling of the ‘Alvarez Empire’ arc in Fairy Tail 2. The time to join Natsu and his allies will be this Winter on the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo Switch Sports

More ways to play sports without leaving the house, Nintendo Switch Sports will get basketball as an option later in the summer. Shoot baskets in the solo Three-Point Challenge, or take on others in Five-Streak Battle or the Three-Point Contest.

The New Denpa Men

A throwback from the days of the 3DS, The New Denpa Men will see players attempt to ruffle through radio waves in order to locate and rescue small creatures. A unique experience to say the least, this free-to-play title will launch on July 22.
