Playstation Portal Launches September in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand

It has taken more than six months, but players in Southeast Asia will finally be able to game away from the console with the PlayStation Portal. That is, if you are in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, or Thailand, with the companion device launching on September 4 as shared on the PlayStation Blog.

Considering the many different options for enjoying games away from your machine of choice, such as the Steam Deck or the ROG Ally X, having one specifically for the PlayStation 5 is obviously something many would look forward to.

The remote player brings the PS5 experience to the palm of your hand. It includes the key features of the DualSense wireless controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The vibrant 8-inch LCD screen is capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps, providing a high-definition visual experience that’s expected from high-quality games created by world-class developers. It also includes a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio.

More importantly, if someone is using the television to which your console is connected, then you don’t have to fret. Just whip out the PlayStation Portal and enjoy your gaming somewhere else in the house. With a strong Wi-Fi connection, you’ll be able to swiftly jump from playing on your PS5 to your PlayStation Portal.

While the upcoming launch is definitely exciting, it is perplexing that the Philippines’ market has been left out of the mix. It remains to be seen if the device will actually make it there. Otherwise, eager players will have to depend on imports like others have done since it was revealed back in 2023.

Preorders for the PlayStation Portal start on August 5, and will cost S$295.90 / MYR 999 / IDR 3,599,000 / THB 7,790.
