PRISM+ Oasis Pro Review – Keeping it Cool & Affordable

Prism+ Oasis Pro review - Keeping It Cool & Affordable

Living on a sunny island like Singapore means getting used to the constant heat and high humidity, which makes air conditioning a non-negotiable for many people. However, if rising costs are your concern, then perhaps consider adding a ceiling fan into the mix to help manage the heat and if you are looking to kit out your home, the homegrown brand Prism+ and its latest line of Oasis Pro smart ceiling fans are undoubtedly great options to consider.

With the growth and expansion of the brand across the household, it is perhaps not surprising that battling one of the biggest issues Singaporeans have in daily life is a key focus. Beyond its selection of air conditioners, Prism+ have gone back to the drawing board and returned with an enhanced version of its fan line, a product more capable of giving consumers what they need at an accessible price point.

What that entails are options galore, ranging from different blade types, colours, sizes, blade count, as well as the type and colour of the motor that suits the room you need the Oasis Pro for. The bigger the room, the larger the fan blade size should be, and with the new downrod design to complement the original hugger motor, all sizes of rooms and ceiling heights are covered.

Having gone for the smart model of the Oasis Pro with 46″ blades, it was finally time to put it to the test in the home office. After several days of testing, it became clear that I should have done this a long time ago rather than trying to use multiple fans to cover the entire working space. Starting from the installation process, which was a breeze with the help of a seasoned technician, the fan was up and running in about 30 minutes. Now, it was time to put it to the test.

As someone who easily runs hot, having the Oasis Pro turned on instantly changes the feeling of stepping into an admittedly cluttered and small office. With up to six different levels of speed, just having it at level three allowed for comfortable working, but turning it up to six means I am never in danger of working up a sweat. It is relatively quiet at maximum speed, which is also a big plus. Making sure you have the right sized blades for the room size is something that needs to be considered for effective cooling.

Once darkness comes around and there’s a need for illumination, the fully customisable RGB colours and standard warm/cool options made it really easy to choose just how I wanted the office to be lit. Bright white light makes it easy to work with documents and the like, and switching to softer, warmer tones allowed eyes to be rested while still having clear visibility. And of course, if you are getting ready to party, the large array of RGB colours are at your disposal to play with whenever you need them.

All of this can be controlled using the Prism+ Connect app, a straightforward experience that prioritises function over everything else. Once you have connected the smart ceiling fan to the app, all of the options that are available on the bundled physical remote are literally at your fingertips. Both brightness and colour temperature are much easier to control using the app, while the fan can be tweaked to reverse, natural, or sleep mode depending on your needs. The first draws cool air from the room upwards for circulation, the second sees fan speed vary from slow to fast every 20 seconds to create the sensation of a natural breeze, while the third option sets the fan speed to gradually slow down for a quiet and restful way to fall asleep.

For those with Google Home implementation, you can easily add the Prism+ Connect app to your setup; otherwise, it also offers standalone routines for easy automation when it comes to timings to turn on or off, the fan speed, direction, and mode, as well as your choice of light, the brightness, and even colour temperature. You can even choose your fade-in and fade-out duration to really hone in on that hands-free experience. Having insights into your usage can also help ensure that you are maximising the fan and your energy usage, another potential way of saving money while staying cool.

To top it all off, Prism+ offers security for consumers with its extensive warranty covering not just the motor, but also other parts like the LED kit and even the remote and receiver. Considering that smart ceiling fans can be challenging for laymen to check for issues and repair them, having this added layer of security is always welcomed.

At its current price of S$499 for the smart version, the Oasis Pro is not exactly the cheapest and most powerful option you can find out there, but for all of its bells and whistles, it is one package that is well worth the investment. It will do a great job of keeping the room cool and airy, and with the customisable lights, you can create whatever vibe you want and, more importantly, know that things would be covered for a significant amount of time should anything go wrong.

The Prism+ Oasis Pro is available now, starting at S$499.
