Rocksteady Studios Ready for Single-Player Batman Game Once More

After Suicide Squad's Failure, Rocksteady is Said to Be Working on a Single-player Batman Game Once Again.

Sometimes, something good can come out of what appears to be a negative situation. While a new report has shed light on the difficulties at Warner Bros. Games, including the troubled development of the Wonder Woman game by Monolith Productions, a renewed focus for the gaming division could see Rocksteady Studios return to what they know best, the Batman universe.

As reported by Bloomberg, all of this follows after the exit of David Hadded, the former head leading the gaming division. Speaking in a financial call, Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav explained: “We recognise [the games business] is substantially underperforming its potential right now.” And to remedy that, Warner Bros. will be pushing hard on four main franchises — Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones,” and DC, “in particular Batman.”

“We are focusing our development efforts on those core franchises, with proven studios to improve our success ratio,” Zaslav said.

When it comes to Batman, it makes perfect sense for Rocksteady Studios to be back in charge, with the team “looking to return to Batman for a single-player game.” However, the caveat is that it will still take a couple of years before we will actually see something, but fingers crossed.

Rocksteady Studios has previously developed three Arkham games — Asylum, City, and Knight — and are still hailed as some of the best superhero games ever created in the gaming industry.

As for other DC-related projects, we already know about Wonder Woman, but there were also hopes of a John Constantine game pitched by WB Games Montreal, which was shot down. A Flash game was also cancelled after the movie failed to capture audiences at the box office. As for Hogwarts Legacy, Avalanche is already hard at work on a sequel and even more content for the first game.
