Rocksteady Studios Seeks New Game Director As Batman Rumours Remain

It seems as though the rumours swirling about a new Batman game coming from Rocksteady Studios are teetering towards fruition. Following the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the wider misfortunes of the Warner Bros. Games portfolio, many have been hoping for a return to the classic Rocksteady type of game, and it seems like that is going to be the case.

It all stems from a job listed posted by Rocksteady. The studio is looking to fill the position of Game Director, which is a very important position when it comes to video game development. Aside from being involved in likely every facet of a new game, the new hire must also have “strong design leadership and experience across multiple genres, particularly third-person action, melee brawlers, and open world traversal games.”

That sure sounds awfully like a Batman game, with these core elements being part of what made being Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter ego so much fun back in the day. Then again, this could be an entirely new IP in the works, just that they share the same qualities as what many fans are searching for.

Neither Rocksteady nor Warner Bros. Games have made an official statement yet. However, the fact that CEO David Zaslav had previously indicated that the company will be focusing on four main properties, one of which is Batman, moving forward bodes well for fans of the DC character.

“We have four strong and profitable game franchises with loyal, global fans: Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, and DC, in particular, Batman. We are focusing our development efforts on those core franchises, with proven studios to improve our success ratio,” said Zaslav.

Whatever the case may be, it is still going to be a couple of years before the project actually takes shape at Rocksteady Studios. Patience is the name of the game, and fingers crossed that we see the return of the Caped Crusader sooner rather than later.
