In August 2015, PlayStation players were introduced to a new kind of horror experience with Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn. Jumping between eight different perspectives, it was intense, engaging fun that helped cement its place as one of the best in the genre. And just in time for the game’s 10th anniversary, Sony Pictures has announced that the film adaptation will hit theatres on April 25, 2025.
The Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions feature only just wrapped filming last week, and work will now continue to get it ready for the big screen debut just a few months before the actual anniversary. How that will look like is still cause for concern, considering that the perspective switching was one of its main draws.
Sony did state that the film is inspired by the game’s events, so hardcore fans will likely have something new to look forward to. Gary Dauberman wrote the latest script, and David F. Sandberg brought his experience from the likes of Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation to the director’s chair.
At the very least, we can be assured of some bloody deaths with the film’s R-rated nature.The Until Dawn adaptation will star Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell, and Peter Stormare, who returns as the iconic Dr. Hill.
Until Dawn will arrive in theatres in April 25, 2025.
