Sony Takes Down Bloodborne Demake Video, Fuelling Remaster Speculation

After Taking Down the 60fps Bloodborne Mod, Sony Has Now Suddenly Removed the Fan-made Bloodborne Demake Video.

The dream of seeing Bloodborne escape its PlayStation 4 prison and make its way to more modern consoles — whether as a remake or remaster — has yet to be fulfilled by Sony. It’s no surprise that many gamers are disappointed with how Sony is handling one of the best Souls games on the market. However, recent actions by the company has led to speculation that something is brewing.

Out of nowhere, without any apparent reason, Sony has made several unusual moves. First, they decided to take down Lance McDonald’s 60FPS Bloodborne mod after allowing it to exist for the past four years. Now, Sony is going after videos of a fan-made Bloodborne Demake project.

This was revealed by the creator of the PlayStation 1-style demake, Lilith Walther. While the game itself is still available and can still be downloaded, Sony has suddenly requested that a three-year-old video of the Bloodborne Demake be taken down from YouTube. The DMCA takedown request came from a company called MarkScan Enforcement, the same company involved in the previous 60FPS mod DMCA case. MarkScan Enforcement is officially representing Sony Interactive Entertainment in this matter.

Unsurprisingly, Sony’s sudden actions have sparked speculation that they are planning something with Bloodborne. Many believe that these steps are being taken as a preventive measure against potential copyright issues if the game makes a return in the form of a remake or remaster. It doesn’t really make sense for the company to go after these fan projects after such a long while, but then again, corporations tend to do things that many consumers do not agree with.

With rumours circulating that Sony will hold a new State of Play event in mid-February 2025, many believe that Sony will announce something related to Bloodborne at the event. Unfortunately, Sony has yet to provide any official comment, so we can only wait and see.
