With the Evolution Championship Series 2024 (EVO) taking place in Las Vegas this weekend, it is the perfect place to share anything related to the fighting games community, and that’s what Capcom and SNK have done. The two giants of the scene have revived the star-studded crossover fighting game SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos for modern platforms.
Already out on Steam, the fighting game will launch on July 22 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and GOG.com. Originally released in 2003, SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos brings together a roster of instantly recognisable characters from across different SNK and Capcom franchises for an epic battle for supremacy.
This 2024 version of the game will feature rollback netcode for smooth online gameplay, a comprehensive tournament mode, and additional features like a hitbox viewer and gallery mode, blending classic fighting game mechanics with modern enhancements for an exhilarating gaming experience.
The likes of Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, and Mai Shiranui, are joined by Mars People, Athena, and other NEOGEO-era icons to fill out the roster on the SNK side, whereas Capcom is well represented with battle-hardened combatants such as Street Fighter‘s Ryu and Chun-Li stand tall with Zero, Red Arremer, and more, for a total of 36 playable characters.
The online lobbies have room for up to nine players, making it possible for all sorts of tournaments to take place, with you able to choose from single-elimination, double-elimination, and round-robin formats. If that’s not enough, you can dive into the minutiae and refine your skills using the hitbox viewer, and marvel at the amazing art via the rich gallery mode.
From the arcades and now in the hands of fighting game fans at home, SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is sure to bring back some fond memories for players, and just in time to make ones as they enjoyed the weekend of EVO 2024.
