Sword & Axe Dates Dark Deity 2 for March Release

It has been nearly four years since the first Dark Diety, and Sword & Axe LLC is finally ready to unleash its sequel on the masses. For fans of tactical roleplaying adventures, prepare yourself, Dark Deity 2 will be launching on March 24.

Like its predecessor, Dark Deity 2 is heavily inspired by Fire Emblem by Intelligent Systems, both visually and mechanically. Players will be taking charge of the Eternal Delegation, with turn-based tactical combat using 20 heroes and 45 branching classes to save the day.

The classes that can be assigned vary wildly, from the standard noble knight, to cosmic sorcerers, summoner game wardens, and cultists. In some instances, the player can multiclass their units, setting a precedent for unchecked tactical creativity and the ability to mix and match different classes to create and experiment with all new combat roles.

Units can be equipped with different skills and abilities, allowing players to place their characters into whatever role they deem best suited for. Characters are also capable of building relationships with one another, which affects both their performance in battle and the story as a whole.

The narrative was also a major focus during development, with a 30-chapter-long branching storyline and full voice acting. The characters have a major impact on how the story progresses, as mentioned before their relationships with each other play a massive role, but also the recruitment of certain characters over others affects the timeline.

The player is also given many avenues of customisation inspired by community randomizers, including adjustable recruitment orders, difficulty settings and the ability to change the rate at which players receive gold and XP and tweak characters’ aptitude growth rates.

The developers have stated that the purpose behind this level of customization was in the name of player choice, as they want each playthrough to be unique. Dark Deity 2 will definitely scratch that strategic itch for many, and the replay value is already looking quite good.

Dark Deity 2 will launch on PC this March 24.
