Fans of the popular manga and anime Hitori no Shita: The Outcast have cause to celebrate, as the IP is entering the gaming world with the help of Tencent Games and its subsidiary, Morefun Studios. Launching in 2025 for PC and mobile, The Hidden Ones will bring a stylish and exciting combat system that looks quite impressive at this early stage.
Set in a mythical world rooted in ancient Eastern myths and philosophies like Taoism and the balance between Yin and Yang, players will need to utilise their unique skill set to develop their abilities and engage in strategic yet action-packed battles. The new trailer shows off plenty of content that forms the bulk of the game, including a story campaign, boss trials, and team duels.
The focus on its Eastern roots and a cinematic take on seemingly everything within the game already make The Hidden Ones stand out. That’s not counting the fast-paced combat that involves parries, counters, grabs, and spectacular moves that will only make fans more excited to be a part of. Even the music choice is impactful, with the fights in the trailer playing out to what appears to be a tweaked version of 男儿当自强, an iconic song from George Lam that was the main track for Once Upon a Time in China and its sequel.
