Tides of Annihilation Will Target 2026 Release

Tides of Annihilation Will Target 2026 Release

It’s not always a given, but when a game debuts with impressive graphics and an intriguing premise, it has more of a chance to break through the noise and capture the attention of the gaming world. Eclipse Glow Games‘ debut title — Tides of Annihilation — is the most recent example and a big hit at the recent State of Play presentation.

With stunning visuals, eye-catching design style, combat that involves spectral knights and magical abilities, and a foundation rooted in mythology, it seems to have it all. The kicker is that it is being developed by a Chinese studio, a continuation of a recent theme where developers from the East are making their presence felt.

The growing interest has led to more queries about what comes next, and in an interview with Wccftech, Eclipse Glow Games divulged more details, including a tentative release target in 2026. The developers revealed that the game is currently in its alpha phase and is expected to enter beta by the end of 2025. However, this schedule could change depending on the feedback they receive.

Players can expect to engage in roleplaying elements, such a levelling systems and skill trees in the game, but the developers stopped short of describing it as an RPG. There will also be around 30 unique bosses standing in your way, and they will be challenging for players of all skill levels.

To prepare for the adventure, Gwendolyn can utilise at least four weapons. In addition to the sword, players will also be able to use their fists and a bow. Players will also discover new armour throughout the journey, though these will serve only as cosmetic items. The total runtime for Tides of Annihilation is currently estimated to last around 30 hours.

Another interesting tidbit was that the decision to draw inspiration from the Knights of the Round Table and, by extension, Gwendolyn, was heavily influenced by the studio’s biggest investor, Tencent. The success of Black Myth: Wukong, another Tencent-backed title, meant that the Eastern market was already catered to. With Tides of Annihilation, it is in a better position to attack the Western gaming world, and the choice of this particular mythology plays into that strategy.

Tides of Annihilation will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
