Ubisoft Unveils Assassin's Creed Shadows Ahead of Codename Red Trailer Debut

It has been close to two years since Ubisoft detailed the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which included the smaller scale Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but also two bigger mainline titles in Codename Red and Hexe via the Infinity hub platform. While the details for the latter are still scarce, the former will soon be getting a reveal, and Ubisoft has finally settled on a name—Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The news comes via Twitter/X, with the first-ever trailer for the game being dropped on May 15, 9 AM Pacific Time. While fans will still not be able to catch a glimpse of the gameplay, we can at least get a feel of the world that the development team is shooting for. The setting of Japan has been highly demanded, so it is safe to say that expectations are high.

It should kickstart the promotional and marketing push for the game, which currently still does not have a release date. However, the internet sleuths have been hard at work, discovering what could be vital information about Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of time.

First, listing data for the game was discovered on the Ubisoft Store, with the game supposedly launching on PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. Yet, renowned insider Shinobi602 has disputed this, claiming that only current-generation consoles are part of the plan. A leak on YouTube also supposedly points to a November 15, 2024 release for the game.

Assassin's Creed Shadows

Needless to say, interest is high, and Ubisoft will do well to capitalise on the hype by finally giving the world a taste of what Assassin’s Creed Shadows has to offer. In addition to this next big tentpole title, Ubisoft is also working hard on Star Wars Outlaws, with both games set to be out by March 2025. It sure is a good time to be a fan of these games, and we look forward to finding out more this week.
