Ubisoft Shooter Xdefiant Season 1 Rolls out Globally

With the successful conclusion of its preseason, the free-to-play, fast-paced arcade shooter developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, XDefiant, will officially kick off its Season 1 today. Players ready to jump in can expect to take the fight to each other with factions inspired by some of Ubisoft’s beloved franchises.

In terms of content, this is what will be available in Season 1 of XDefiant:

  • 1 new faction – GSK (Inspired by Rainbow Six)
  • 3 new maps
    • Clubhouse (Inspired by Rainbow Six, Available today)
    • Daytona (Inspired by The Crew 2, Coming in-season)
    • Rockefeller (Inspired by The Division, Coming in-season)
  • 3 free Battle Pass weapons
    • LVOA-C Assault Rifle
    • L115 Sniper Rifle
    • Sawed-off Shotgun (secondary)
  • 2 new arena modes
    • Capture the Flag (available today)
    • Bomb (Coming in-season)
  • Ranked Play

The new GSK faction, inspired by Rainbow Six, has plenty of signature abilities to help its cause. The Shockwire can be used to build a high-voltage perimeter around objectives, and the Active Defense System (ADS) can help shoot down incoming enemy explosives. For its Ultra, the GSK has the Flash Shield, an LED-studded shield that doubles as a mobile cover, and the Hardhat helps to reduce the lethality of enemy-delivered head shots.

As for the two additional arena modes coming to Season 1 in XDefiant, Capture the Flag (CTF) will be a run-and-gun fast-paced race to grab the flag and bring it back without letting the enemy get theirs first, available starting today. Bomb mode will come later in the season, tasking players to bring a more strategic mindset as they take turns defending and defusing a detonator.

For players interested in Ranked Play, step into a 4v4 playlist that includes the Occupy, Domination, Zone Control and Escort game modes. There will be a total of seven ranks for players to climb, starting from Bronze all the way up to Legends. Outside of Legends, each rank will have 10 levels for players to progress in order to reach the next rank. Ranks will be turned on with Ranked play being fully operational next week, and you can expect exclusive rewards to be available in the mode.

XDefiant is available on PC via Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S now.
