Xbox Games Showcase – Doom: The Dark Ages Goes All Medieval in 2025

Xbox Games Showcase Doom: the Dark Ages Goes All Medieval in 2025

It’s time to go back into hell, and this time around, it’s all about the fantasy. Announced at the Xbox Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest, Doom: The Dark Ages will transport the beloved shooter franchise back to, well, the dark ages of medieval times in a prequel. If the excellent shooting of the franchise is not enough, perhaps riding a dragon would?

The trailer is full of everything fans know and love, and it will certainly be interesting to see just how id Software and Bethesda Softworks handle the change of settings and, more importantly, continue the story in a prequel. There’s also the aforementioned Mecha Dragon ready to be ridden, and a massive Atlan mech to help with the demon-slaying.

And for fans worried that they would not be able to join the fun in Doom: The Dark Ages if they do not own an Xbox console, fret not. The game is confirmed to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC, and will be on Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass day one in 2025.

With Doom Eternal having been released back in 2020, it will be about five long years before we will be able to blast demons in the face and enjoy wanton violence. While two pieces of DLC helped to bridge the gap, a full-blown experience is still much more desired. That’s exactly what we will be getting in Doom: The Dark Ages, and these itchy trigger fingers can’t wait.
