RAD: Repeat After Death Confirms April 17 Release on PC

Indonesian indie studio Exploding Soes has announced that RAD: Repeat After Death will launch on April 17 for PC, alongside a new release date trailer. The project has been circulating across regional showcases for a while, but this is the first firm date for when it will actually arrive.

RAD: Repeat After Death is a roguelite action platformer with a clear mechanical hook: the game records what you do, then turns that recording into your next problem. Platforming inputs are intentionally straightforward, but the run structure compounds complexity by turning your previous movement into hazards that must be dodged in later attempts.

Recorded Movement Turns Runs into Self-Made Bullet Hell

The core loop is built around repetition with consequences. Each run through a dungeon is shaped by your own pathing and timing, and those actions are replayed back at you in subsequent iterations as “ghost” patterns.

In practice, the cleaner and more aggressive your movement was in one run, the more chaotic the next run can become, because your past self is now part of the obstacle layer. Having experienced the tension and excitement of it all in a hands-on previously, RAD: Repeat After Death definitely scratches that itch of one more run.

Progress is not only about learning enemies and traps, but also about managing how messy your own future becomes. Over time, runs naturally trend toward bullet hell style dodging, with the density of hazards increasing because of decisions you made earlier.

A Multi-Character Loop Built Around Combinations

RAD: Repeat After Death also leans into roster variety. Runs involve selecting multiple characters, with the game cycling through which one you control across iterations. The system encourages experimenting with combinations that change tempo and tactics, rather than relying on a single comfort pick.

This fits neatly with the recorded movement hook because switching kits changes how you approach each room, and that, in turn, changes what gets replayed back at you later.

Across the dungeon structure, the game also frames progression around biomes and upgrade layers. Items, artifacts, and pre-run upgrades purchased with collected souls are intended to create the usual roguelite curve, while story beats and NPC interactions sit in the background as a longer arc about why the loop exists in the first place.

A Regional Showcase Run That Has Been Building Momentum

Exploding Soes has been taking RAD: Repeat After Death through regional and local showcases, with recognitions including 1st Runner Up at the Garena Game Jam 2023 in Indonesia and a Best Game Design nomination at Level Up KL 2025 in Malaysia.

The game has also appeared at events such as Level Up KL, IGDX, and the SEA Game Showcase, establishing a steady lead-up to the April release date announcement.
