Star Wars Zero Company Brings Clone Wars Tactics to August
Electronic Arts has confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company will launch on August 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are now open across all platforms, giving Star Wars fans a clearer path towards Bit Reactor’s single-player turn-based tactics game.
Developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, Star Wars Zero Company tells an original story set during the Clone Wars. A new gameplay trailer at Summer Game Fest shows off its cinematic approach to squad-based strategy, with the game focusing on covert conflict away from the familiar frontlines of the war.
A New Clone Wars Story From the Shadows
Players take on the role of Hawks, a former Galactic Republic officer and the current leader of Zero Company. The team itself is an unusual group of hired operatives drawn from across the galaxy, including a Clone Trooper, a Mandalorian from the ancient Clan Verminoth, a Jedi Padawan, and other specialists.
Their target is Kundri Fathom, the leader of the Infinite Coil, a Separatist-aligned cult operating within the larger chaos of the Clone Wars. Rather than retelling the war through its most recognisable heroes, Star Wars Zero Company appears to focus on the smaller, darker operations that can shape the conflict from the margins.
Turn-Based Strategy Built Around Operators and Bonds
Zero Company’s base of operations, The Den, acts as the player’s hub between missions. From there, players can recruit Operators, improve their skills, upgrade facilities, buy equipment, and choose their next mission through the holotable.
The battlefield layer focuses on developing bonds between authored characters and player-created Operators. Those relationships can unlock support abilities and cross-training benefits, adding more flexibility to squad building over time. The wider campaign also includes an evolving galaxy map with more than 150 planets, where player choices can affect how the journey unfolds.
Customisation Is Central to Star Wars Zero Company
Customisation is a major part of the game’s tactical identity. Hawks and recruited Operators can be created from eight Star Wars species, including Devaronian, Human, Neimoidian, Ovissian, Togruta, Twi’lek, Weequay, and Zabrak.
Players can also customise voices, outfits, appearance details, specialisations, and talents. That gives Star Wars Zero Company a clear emphasis on building a personal squad, rather than simply commanding a fixed cast through a linear tactics campaign.

Pre-orders include the Crystalline Astromech Cosmetic Pack, while the Deluxe Edition adds extra cosmetic packs and painted weapon themes inspired by the Clone Wars era. The Star Wars Zero Company soundtrack, featuring an original score by Grammy award-winning composer Gordy Haab, will also be released on August 27 through Walt Disney Records.
