Cinder City PC Specs Still Look Demanding After RAM Update
NC and Big Fire Games’ upcoming shooter Cinder City suddenly became one of PC gaming’s most talked-about upcoming releases this week, but not purely because of its futuristic Seoul setting or large-scale co-op action.
Instead, attention turned to the game’s Steam listing, which briefly showed a massive 64GB RAM recommendation. During a period when memory prices remain a major concern for PC players, that number immediately stood out.
The listing has since been updated. NC told VGC that the 64GB recommendation was an error, and Cinder City now lists 32GB RAM for both its minimum and recommended specifications. Even with that correction, the requirement remains unusually high for a modern PC game.
Cinder City Briefly Recommended 64GB RAM
The original Steam listing quickly spread across PC gaming communities because of how strange the requirements looked.
Before the correction, Cinder City reportedly listed 32GB RAM as its minimum requirement and 64GB RAM as its recommended target. The rest of the recommended setup was not quite as extreme, which made the memory figure feel even more unusual.
According to NC, the memory specification has now been corrected. The publisher also said the current system requirements are based on the latest development build, and that final requirements may be lower as optimisation work continues.
Steam Now Lists 32GB RAM for Minimum and Recommended Specs
At the time of writing, Steam lists Cinder City as requiring an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 as the minimum requirements.
The recommended setup now lists an Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070.
That is less alarming than a 64GB RAM recommendation, but it still makes Cinder City stand out. Many major PC releases still recommend 16GB of RAM, while 32GB is typically reserved for more demanding titles or higher-end setups.
NC’s Shooter Looks Ambitious, But Optimisation Questions Remain
Part of the concern comes from the scale of the game itself. Cinder City is described as an open-world cinematic third-person shooter set in a fallen near-future Seoul.
Players become Cinderknights, fighting against the Hyde group, mutated Creatures, and hostile factions across the city. The Steam page also highlights story missions, side missions, dynamic events, co-op play, field bosses, instanced dungeons, and massive world raids.
Those features could explain why the game needs more memory than expected. Large environments, online systems, enemy density, co-op activity, and world events can all place additional pressure on PC hardware.
Even so, 32GB as a minimum requirement will still make some players cautious, especially while RAM prices remain high.

Cinder City Has Time to Lower Its Requirements
The most important detail is that Cinder City does not yet have a confirmed release date. Steam currently lists the game as “coming soon”, which means Big Fire Games still has time to optimise before launch.
That may be why NC was careful to note that final system requirements could change closer to release. For now, the corrected 32GB recommendation is less extreme than the earlier 64GB figure, but it does not completely remove the concern.
If Cinder City can justify its hardware demands with strong visuals, dense systems, and stable performance, the conversation may shift back to the game itself. Until then, its PC specs are likely to remain one of the first things players notice.
