Nintendo Switch 2 Indonesia Launch Finally Becomes Official
Nintendo is finally making its official move into Indonesia. After years of players relying heavily on importers, third-party sellers, and unofficial distribution channels, the company has confirmed that Switch and Switch 2 products will be officially available in the country from December.
The announcement was made during an official event in Jakarta, with official distribution set to be handled by PT Nusantara Interactive Niaga, a company under the Salim Group. It is a major step for one of Southeast Asia’s largest gaming markets, especially given how long the brand has maintained a more limited presence compared to other platform holders.
Switch and Switch 2 Are Both Part of the Launch
The Indonesian rollout will include both Switch and Switch 2 hardware, along with games for both platforms. That is important because the Japanese company is not simply treating this latest expansion as a late market for older hardware.
By including Switch 2 in the official launch, the company is giving local players a clearer path into its current platform ecosystem without depending entirely on imported stock. For fans, this should also mean better visibility around official products, clearer retail support, and potentially more consistent availability once the December rollout begins.

Pricing Has Not Been Announced Yet
The greatest missing detail is price. Nintendo has not announced official pricing for Switch, Switch 2, or the games that will be sold alongside them. That will likely be the detail many players are waiting for before deciding whether the official launch changes much in practical terms.
Indonesia already has an active console and handheld gaming market, but official availability does not automatically mean affordability. If pricing lands too close to import prices, the impact may be limited. If the gaming giant can offer clearer local retail support or more competitive pricing, the launch could become much more meaningful. Regional pricing for games is also still unconfirmed.
Launch Lineup Includes Zelda, Mario, and Pokémon
The Big N has listed several major titles for the launch window. For Switch 2, the lineup includes Mario Kart World, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Switch 2 Edition, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, Pokémon Pokopia, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Switch 2 Edition.
The original Switch will also receive officially distributed titles, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. More titles are planned, though the full launch catalogue has not been revealed yet.
eShop Support Is Still the Big Question
The other major unanswered question is eShop support. At the time of writing, Nintendo has not confirmed whether Indonesia will receive its own official eShop region. That matters because hardware distribution is only one part of the platform experience.
Digital game access, local payment options, Switch Online availability, downloadable content, and regional pricing could all affect how useful the official launch feels to players. The company says more information on eShop availability will be shared later.
For now, this is still a milestone worth recognising. Nintendo entering the country officially gives local fans a clearer route to its consoles and games, even if the two biggest practical questions remain unresolved: how much everything will cost, and whether Indonesia will finally get full local digital support.
