Nintendo Finally Brings eShop and Switch Online to Southeast Asia
Nintendo has officially announced that Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online services will launch in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand on November 18, marking another major step forward in the company’s long-awaited expansion into Southeast Asia.
The rollout will apply to both the Switch and the newly released Switch 2, giving players in these markets full access to digital purchases, downloadable content, and online membership features for the first time.
A Long-Awaited Step for Southeast Asia
Following the creation of Nintendo Singapore Pte. Ltd. earlier this year, the company hinted at plans to strengthen the company’s presence in the region. The official launch of the eShop and Switch Online now confirms that strategy and gives Southeast Asian players parity with global users for digital purchases and online play.
Through the eShop, players will soon be able to buy and download games directly from the digital storefront, including major first-party releases and indie titles. The store will also feature downloadable content (DLC) and Nintendo Switch Online memberships, streamlining access to digital content without relying on regional workarounds.

The Switch Online membership provides a suite of benefits, such as:
- Access to online multiplayer for select titles.
- A catalogue of retro classics from past consoles.
- Exclusive member-only games and features.
- Cloud save data support, offering convenient cross-device play between Switch and Switch 2.
The gaming giant has stated that further details on available titles, pricing, and regional content will be revealed closer to launch.
The Philippines Next in Line
In its announcement, Nintendo also confirmed that plans are underway to expand both eShop and Switch Online services to the Philippines, though no start date has been finalised. Updates will be shared once the rollout schedule is confirmed.
For now, November 18 marks a turning point for Southeast Asian fans — a long-awaited moment where the region finally steps into a global ecosystem, with official digital support to match.
