Crimson Desert Enhanced Expands the Journey Through Pywel
Pearl Abyss has unveiled Crimson Desert Enhanced, a sizeable version 2.0 update that expands the open-world action-adventure with additional story content and broader language support. The update was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live in a new one-minute trailer highlighting the changes since the original release.
Crimson Desert was among dozens of games appearing during the showcase, all of which can be found in our Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 roundup. Existing owners will receive Crimson Desert Enhanced as a free update across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store and Mac.
New Cutscenes and Dialogue Expand Crimson Desert’s Story
The most notable additions come to the game’s storytelling. Pearl Abyss has added new cutscenes and dialogue throughout Kliff’s journey, with the changes intended to create a smoother narrative flow and provide greater context around the characters and events unfolding across Pywel.
Rather than introducing a separate expansion or additional campaign, Enhanced appears focused on strengthening the existing experience, revisiting parts of the story where Pearl Abyss felt further development could improve the overall journey.
The update also adds five new full voiceover languages: French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese. Arabic subtitles and user interface support have also been added, further expanding the game’s localisation options.
Crimson Desert Gets Its First All-Platform Sale
The arrival of Enhanced also brings the first simultaneous discount for Crimson Desert across every digital platform. Until September 9, the game is available at 20% off through PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store and Mac.
Existing players do not need to purchase anything additional to access the version 2.0 improvements.
Crimson Desert Picks Up Two Gamescom Awards Nominations
Pearl Abyss has another reason to celebrate during Gamescom, with Crimson Desert nominated in two categories at the Gamescom Awards 2026.
It is competing for Most Epic, alongside games including Metro 2039, Tides of Annihilation and Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000, while also earning a nomination for Best PC Game. Visitors in Cologne can also play Crimson Desert throughout Gamescom from August 26 to August 30. Pearl Abyss is partnering with Samsung Electronics for its hands-on presentation at Hall 09.1, Stand B020–C029.
For players already exploring Pywel, though, the bigger news is available without a trip to Germany. Crimson Desert Enhanced gives the existing adventure another pass, adding more story material at no additional cost.
