Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern Opens for Business in 2027

Who says you need to actually go adventuring to make money from adventurers? Dotemu and developer Homo Ludens have revealed Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern, a new management sim that puts players behind the bar rather than at the front of the adventuring party.

Announced during the Future Games Show at Gamescom 2026, the standalone PC game is set in the Dalelands of Faerûn and tasks players with turning a modest roadside stop into the tavern every weary adventurer wants to visit.

The basic business plan is refreshingly straightforward: let somebody else risk their life fighting monsters, then make sure they spend their hard-earned rewards at your establishment afterwards. You can follow our Gamescom 2026 coverage for more announcements from Cologne.

Build a Tavern Worth Taking a Long Rest In

Players begin with a humble tavern before gradually expanding, decorating and optimising it as more customers pass through. Running the business involves keeping supplies stocked, earning coin and learning increasingly complex recipes. Exotic ingredients can be turned into new food and drinks, with different patrons across various species and classes having their own tastes and requirements.

Profits can then be reinvested into upgrades and expansion, while decorations, artefacts and mementoes let players put their own stamp on the tavern. There is even a rival innkeeper around to ensure life behind the bar does not become too relaxing.

Your Customers Can Do the Adventuring for You

The tavern is not simply somewhere for heroes to recover between quests. Players can decide which challenges their patrons should take on, matching assignments to the composition and abilities of each adventuring party. Those decisions influence how expeditions play out and what the heroes eventually bring home.

Luck remains part of the equation too. Quest outcomes are influenced by dice rolls, with successful expeditions potentially returning rare ingredients, magical curiosities and treasure.

It gives Long Rest Tavern an interesting connection between its management and adventuring systems. Better-prepared heroes have a better chance of succeeding, while their exploits can provide valuable resources to improve the business waiting for them back home.

Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern Is Coming to PC

Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern Opens for Business in 2027

Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern is currently scheduled to launch for PC through Steam in 2027, with wishlisting already available. No console versions have been announced.

It may not offer quite the same heroic reputation as personally slaying a Beholder, but running the establishment where everyone celebrates afterwards sounds considerably safer. And probably more profitable.
