BELTFED Joins Hooded Horse for a 2027 PC Release
Hooded Horse has added another strategy game to its publishing line-up, signing Hello World Studios’ BELTFED for release on PC in 2027. The partnership comes after the roguelike factory-defence game reportedly passed 200,000 Steam wishlists in under two weeks, following a reveal trailer that quickly gained traction online.
The basic premise is essentially factory automation with a much more violent end goal. Players control a rogue AI given one directive: automate death. That means building production lines, smelters and assemblers while maintaining the power grid, except everything being manufactured ultimately exists to turn incoming swarms of hostile bugs into considerably smaller pieces.
The BELTFED announcement trailer offers a good look at just how quickly those otherwise orderly factory lines can descend into industrial-scale carnage.
BELTFED Makes Your Factory the Weapon
Each run revolves around constructing and expanding a base that works simultaneously as a production facility and defensive war machine. Resources travel along belts before being converted into weapons and other equipment, while players have to balance their infrastructure against an increasingly aggressive enemy population.
At the centre of everything is the Nexus, which functions as both the factory’s central intelligence and item storage. Losing it means losing the run. Death does not completely reset progress, however. Each deployment contributes towards permanent unlocks including new weapons, buildings, upgrade cards and Nexus cores, which can then be incorporated into future loadouts.
That gives BELTFED the familiar roguelike cycle of failure and progression, but ties it to the problem-solving of an automation game. The aim is not simply to put down more guns, but to build a production chain capable of supplying them before the swarm overwhelms everything.
200,000 Wishlists Before Hooded Horse Steps In
The publishing deal arrives after BELTFED generated a significant amount of early attention independently. Hooded Horse says the game crossed 200,000 wishlists within two weeks of its announcement, giving the newly signed project a sizeable audience well before release.
For Hooded Horse, it also fits neatly alongside a catalogue increasingly associated with systems-heavy strategy games, although BELTFED’s blend of factory building, siege defence and short roguelike runs gives it a particularly chaotic identity of its own.

BELTFED is currently scheduled to launch for PC in 2027, with no more specific release window announced. Players can already wishlist the game on Steam.
