Acornia: Mirror Worlds Brings Bake and Brawl Action to Gamescom
Running a successful dessert shop is difficult enough without another dimension full of angry spirits trying to destroy your hometown. That is the problem facing Alva in Acornia: Mirror Worlds, a new action-adventure management hybrid revealed by The Arcade Crew and Splashteam during Gamescom Opening Night Live.
Coming in 2027, the game follows a young squirrel who returns home after a lengthy absence to discover the tree village of Acornia falling apart under the influence of Duramen, a dark mirror dimension filled with hostile spirits.
Rebuilding the village means keeping the family dessert shop profitable while regularly venturing into Duramen to deal with the corruption directly. The reveal joined a packed night of announcements, all of which you can catch up on in our Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 roundup.
Pastries Are Both Food and Ammunition
Fortunately, Alva has discovered a practical second use for all those cakes. Before entering Duramen, players can stuff Alva’s sizeable cheek pouches with pastries prepared at the shop. Those desserts then become ammunition, allowing her to fire cakes, crumbles and other treats directly at the spirits roaming its dungeons.
Running out of pastries does not leave Alva defenceless either. She can swallow enemies and fire them back at whatever unfortunate creature comes next. Exploring Duramen also provides ingredients and other resources that feed back into the shop, connecting both sides of the game rather than treating its management and combat as completely separate experiences.
Building the Dessert Shop Helps Restore Acornia
Back in Acornia, players will grow ingredients, experiment with recipes and serve customers to improve the shop’s reputation. As business expands, Alva can hire employees to handle certain responsibilities automatically, freeing up time to explore, gather resources and fight through Duramen.
Money earned through the shop also contributes to restoring the village, while helping neighbours and participating in seasonal activities strengthen Alva and open up further opportunities. That makes the basic loop straightforward enough. Bake better food, build a stronger business, head into the mirror world and use some of that food to violently remove supernatural problems.
Acornia: Mirror Worlds launches in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam.
