Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back Brings Juliet Starling Back
Juliet Starling is officially picking up her chainsaw again, with Dragami Games and Nada Holdings revealing Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back, an entirely new sequel currently planned for 2027. The announcement arrives at Tokyo Game Show 2026, just as previously promised when Dragami Games confirmed that its next Lollipop Chainsaw project would be playable at the event.
This time, however, we finally know exactly what the project is. Rather than another remaster following Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back continues Juliet’s story with a new setting, threat and gameplay systems.
JP Universe, the studio founded by Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata, is developing the game, with PlayStation 5 currently the only confirmed platform. It is scheduled for release sometime in 2027.
Juliet Starling Heads to the Newly Rebuilt Jaredwood
After the destruction of San Romero, the city has been rebuilt as Jaredwood, a sprawling metropolis centred on the film industry. Things quickly go wrong when a mysterious director traps Juliet inside his own twisted zombie movie, forcing her and her allies to uncover the conspiracy behind the chaos while battling a new threat known as the Corrupted Realm zombies.
Juliet also returns with a new outfit and, according to Dragami Games, considerably more power than before. An extended gameplay demo accompanied the reveal, and TGS 2026 attendees can also try the game at the SEGA/ATLUS booth.
That hands-on build makes Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back one of the more unusual announcements at this year’s show, even if what has been shown still looks relatively early in development.
Original Lollipop Chainsaw Staff Return Alongside Hajime Tabata
The development team is arguably just as interesting as Juliet’s return. Masahiro Yuki, who co-produced and wrote the scenario for the original Lollipop Chainsaw, is involved with the sequel, alongside NekoshowguN, who handled the original game’s main character concept art.
Then there is Hajime Tabata. Best known as the director of Final Fantasy XV, Tabata established JP Universe in 2022 and is appearing at TGS alongside the game’s development director Yasuaki Nasu. With JP Universe handling development, his connection to Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back runs considerably deeper than a simple guest appearance or advisory role.
Exactly how the sequel intends to modernise the original game’s combat remains to be seen, but Dragami Games has already described it as a completely new entry rather than another reworking of the 2012 game.
Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back is currently planned for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5. Additional platforms have not been announced.
