Overhours Release Date Set for November 13

Malaysian indie developer CtrlD Studio has confirmed that Overhours will launch on November 13 for PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S, putting a firm date on its monster-filled take on workplace overtime.

The release date was revealed during the LEVEL UP KL SEA Game Awards in Kuala Lumpur, where the studio debuted a new trailer for its first original game project. Overhours will be available to wishlist on both platforms ahead of launch.

We previously caught the game during the Southeast Asian Games Showcase 2026, where its mix of tower defence and twin-stick action already stood out among the region’s upcoming indie projects.

Makeing the Night Shift Considerably Worse

Overhours is an isometric tower defence-shooter hybrid centred on a new employee who discovers that a bad day at work can, in fact, get much worse.

After being tricked into fighting a monster invasion at the office, players must survive waves of strange creatures using traps, special abilities, and direct firepower. Levels support different loadouts and strategies, encouraging players to replay encounters and experiment with different approaches.

The setup draws inspiration from games such as Orcs Must Die!, with CtrlD Studio Creative Director Suan Goh pointing towards the chaos and satisfaction of tower defence games the team already loved. Rather than standing back and watching defences do all the work, players are expected to get directly involved once the monsters start coming.

The Overhours Steam page currently has a playable demo, giving prospective employees a chance to experience the night shift before November.

Replayable Levels Put Traps and Loadouts to Work

The main hook comes from combining traditional tower defence planning with the more immediate demands of an isometric shooter. Players can use each stage’s layout to control enemy routes while unlocking and upgrading new traps, towers, and abilities. Better performance also leads to stronger rewards, giving players a reason to return with different combinations rather than simply clearing each stage once.

Behind it all is a workplace satire about a fictional agency that quite literally drains its employees, giving all the monster defence a suitably uncomfortable corporate backdrop. Overhours also marks another milestone for CtrlD Studio, founded in Malaysia in 2019, which spent several years working across creative technology projects before shifting its focus back to game development.
