Ubisoft Further Delays Assassin's Creed Shadows to March 2025

Hold your blades, would-be assassins, your dream of stepping into feudal Japan as one of the two protagonists in Assassin’s Creed Shadows needs to be rescheduled. After previously being delayed from a late 2024 release to February 2025, Ubisoft has announced another delay for the game, this time to March 20, 2025.

This announcement was made via the official Twitter/X account, with further tweaks and changes being implemented to address feedback as the main reasons for the push.

“As part of the renewed focus on gameplay quality and engaging Day-1 experiences, it has been decided to provide an additional month of development to Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” Ubisoft further shared. “This additional time will allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months and help create the best conditions for launch by continuing to engage closely with the increasingly positive Assassin’s Creed community.”

“We are all behind our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus of the franchise and made the decision to provide an extra month of development to Shadows in order to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months that will enable us to fully deliver on the potential of the game and finish the year on a strong note,” added Yves Guillemot, CEO.

This latest delay to Assassin’s Creed Shadows follows an uncertain period for Ubisoft, where there have been layoffs, studio closures, and the shutting down of titles like XDefiant. The company is also reportedly in talks with Tencent to discuss a buyout, which can lead to all sorts of outcomes for gamers and the company alike.

For now, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on March 20, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Hopefully, things will be smoother on the road to release in two month’s time.
