Rumours Point to Egyptian Mythology for Next God of War

God of War Egypt

With grand stories, interesting characters, and a main protagonist whose personality has drastically transformed from what we once knew, what Sony and Santa Monica Studio have achieved with the modern reimagining of God of War is nothing short of impressive. Jumping from the pantheon of Greek gods over to Norse mythology, the team has created new epic tales that will live long in the memory. But now that begs the question, where next for Kratos or even Atreus? The answer might just be the sandy lands of Egypt.

While interest in the land of the gods and pharaohs has always existed for the developers, it was ultimately scrapped in favour of heading to Norse mythology. Now, rumours have begun to swirl once more, with Egyptian mythology once again at the heart of it all for the next God of War instalment.

This information comes via reliable leaker DanielRPK (Daniel Richtman), who shares that Sony is currently seeking actors of Middle Eastern descent for an upcoming AAA title, which could very well be the new entry in the beloved franchise. Whether this will be positioned as a sequel or even a prequel to Kratos’ new take on godly life remains to be seen.

Events in both God of War and God of War Ragnarök have indicated that Týr, the Norse counterpart of Kratos, has gone on many visits to other realms. Part of his trips involved going to Egypt itself, which can indicate that we are on the right track when ascertaining the next destination for Kratos and his cohorts. The source material is definitely colourful and deep enough for the developers to work their magic, which can only be good news for fans.

For now, the rumours remain as they are, with only DanielRPK revealing this potential development. Other notable sources have not yet confirm if they have heard the same, but it is clear that the gaming world is ready and itching to find out more.
