Scalpers Emerge as NVIDIA RTX Series GPUs Stocks Get Snapped Up

Rtx 5090 Scalpers

In the world of computing and graphics cards, there is always something new to look forward to from the major manufacturers with every new iteration. Whether the upgrade is worth it is an entirely different question, but knowing the demand of the market, scalpers have struck with the new NVIDIA RTX series of GPUs, and the numbers being thrown about are staggering.

For a GPU that promises super-optimal performance when handling the latest game releases and supported by a robust software suite, it can be easy to understand why they are so coveted. In fact, it’s next to impossible to find one from official sources, with both available RTX 50 Series variants —RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 — selling out completely.

As expected, such a situation is likely exacerbated by scalpers looking for quick profits. Many listings for the RTX series GPUs have quickly surfaced, and it makes for scary browsing. On sites like eBay, the RTX 5090 is being sold for around US$6,500, which is more than three times its original asking price.

This stark rise in resale prices has also prompted third-party manufacturers to up their own offerings as well, which is not unheard of for official products. For instance, the ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 has seen its original price of US$1,999 jump to US$2,799. That’s nearly a 50% jump for consumers to stomach, and if you are desperately seeking to add the new RTX series into your build, that price is a high one to pay.
