Microsoft Gets Into VR With New Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition

If you were hoping to see some more diversification from Microsoft when it comes to its gaming efforts, you are in luck. The green brand now joins the virtual reality arena, as the tech giant has announced the new Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition. This will be the first-ever limited-edition variant of the popular VR headset.

Done in partnership with Meta, this is another expansion for Xbox Cloud Gaming and Microsoft as a whole. Lori Wright, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Partnerships and Marketing, shared on the Xbox Wire that this is “a Quest headset that not only delivers incredible mixed reality experiences but is also crafted for Xbox fans.”

What’s Inside the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition?

The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition is available now US$399.99, and includes quite a number of goodies for players to dive straight in:

  • Custom 128GB Meta Quest 3S in Xbox Carbon Black and Velocity Green
  • Matching Touch Plus controllers and a limited-edition Xbox Wireless Controller
  • Meta Quest Elite Strap
  • 3 months of Meta Horizon+
  • 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

“While you can pair any Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, or Xbox Adaptive Controller to Quest using Bluetooth, the included limited-edition Xbox Wireless Controller will share the same look as the other accessories, with a Carbon Black chassis and Velocity Green highlights on the face buttons and analog sticks, and it comes pre-paired with the headset,” added Wright.

With the Xbox app, players can immediately access the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta, and start playing games like South of MidnightThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Avowed, and more as part of an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership. That also includes access to cloud streaming.

“We’re proud of what we’ve built together with Meta, and we can’t wait for you to dive into everything the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition has to offer. Whether you’re streaming the latest Xbox Game Pass Ultimate titles, exploring the ever-expanding world of VR, or kicking back with immersive entertainment, this is just the beginning of what’s possible when great teams and great technology come together,” Wright concluded.
