Prepare Yourself Tarnished, a Elden Ring Film Adaptation is Coming

A live-action Elden Ring film adaptation is coming our way, courtesy of Bandai Namco and A24, in collaboration with writer and director Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War). The producers will be Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich from DNA, Vince Gerardis, and George R. R. Martin.

Yes, you read that right. Martin, who had a hand in making the game come to life, is part of the movie project as well. However, at this point, it is unclear if FromSoftware, the game’s developers, and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki will be involved. No casting or plot details were shared.

Elden Ring first came to the fore in the gaming space back in 2022, bringing the Soulslike formula to an open world environment on an unprecedented scale. Along with its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, the game earned both critical and commercial acclaim, as many flocked to its intense combat, excellent world design, and its approach to storytelling. Now, it appears that the wider entertainment world will be in for a reckoning.

A film adaptation is not coming out of the blue either, as Martin had hinted at it back in 2024 about a possible Elden Ring movie. Fans were excited then, and with this new announcement, they would likely get even more hyped for what’s coming next.

While the adaptation details are being firmed up, Elden Ring is not taking it slow as a franchise. Next up on the agenda will be the multiplayer spinoff title, Elden Ring Nightreign. Instead of a sole player going up against impossible odds, this time around, players will cooperate to overcome a variety of challenging situations.

Some elements are familiar to players, such as weapons and enemies, but the gameplay experience has been overhauled with a new class system and synergy between three partners. There is also the arrival of the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 to look forward to later this year. It contains all content released for the base game thus far, together with four new armor sets and a new appearance customisation feature for Torrent the mount.
