Frank West Returns in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Frank West Returns in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Just like the undead that keeps rising to keep us occupied, Capcom‘s love affair with the shambling corpses continues with the surprise reveal of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, a remaster of the Xbox 360 action adventure title for the “newest generation of platforms.”

While the announcement did not exactly state the platforms the game will be coming out on in 2024, but based on the language, it is likely to be for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The trailer does show off what looks like an updated Frank West arriving in Willamette, Colorado, with everything looking much sharper and modern. West’s voice has also changed, so it is unlikely that original voice actor T.J. Rotolo will be reprising this iconic role. As to what will be changed or updated on the gameplay front, the details are scarce at this moment.

If you are not familiar with the original Dead Rising, the 2006 title was an Xbox 360 exclusive. It followed photojournalist West as he documented the zombie outbreak in Willamette, all while a three-day time limit counted down. What stood out was the technical mastery on display, with hundreds of zombies appearing on the screen without causing performance issues, and its sandbox approach to how players want to progress in their game.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

That kicked off what would become a pretty solid series for Capcom, with three more numbered sequels, DLC expansions, an HD remaster in 2016 of the original, and finally, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Although the studio that worked on the franchise, Capcom Vancouver, no longer exists, it seems like the company has not yet forgotten this IP. It remains to be seen just when players can get their hands on Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, but with the 2024 window, we won’t have much long to wait.
