Apex Legends x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Crossover Gets an Emotional Tease

Apex Legends appears to be heading into Night City, with Respawn Entertainment and CD Projekt Red teasing a new crossover with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

The reveal arrived through matching teaser artwork shared by the two official social accounts. Together, the images show David and Lucy sitting side by side, looking out at Earth from the Moon, immediately recalling one of the anime’s most emotionally important visual motifs.

It is a smart tease because it does not need to explain much. For Cyberpunk: Edgerunners fans, that Moon imagery carries a lot of weight. For Apex Legends players, it clearly signals another major crossover event is coming, even if Respawn has not yet detailed exactly what will be included.

David and Lucy Are Unlikely to Be Playable Legends

At the moment, Respawn has not confirmed the full content lineup for the collaboration. However, it seems unlikely that David Martinez and Lucy Kushinada will become fully playable Legends. The crossovers for the shooter usually work through themed cosmetics, rather than adding guest characters with their own abilities and lore integration.

That means the safer expectation is character skins inspired by the show, alongside weapon cosmetics, banners, charms, or other event items. Early community speculation has already focused on which existing Legends would best fit David and Lucy’s designs, although Respawn has not announced the official skin pairings yet.

Leaks Point to Skins and E-District Changes

Datamines suggest the crossover may go beyond basic cosmetics. Reports claim that E-District could receive Cyberpunk-themed environmental changes, including vending machines featuring the Samurai logo from the wider Cyberpunk universe. Other leaked details point to themed cosmetics and possible weapon skin content, though these should still be treated as unconfirmed until Respawn officially announces the event.

If accurate, the collaboration could become one of the more visually distinctive crossover events. E-District already fits a denser urban sci-fi mood, making it a natural candidate for a temporary Cyberpunk-inspired makeover. The reported environmental touches would also help the event feel more like a proper crossover, rather than simply a small cosmetic drop.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Keeps Growing Across Games

The timing also makes sense for the Edgerunners series. The anime has remained one of CD Projekt Red’s strongest crossover brands, with Lucy already appearing in collaborations such as Guilty Gear Strive and Wuthering Waves. With Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 also on the way, the franchise is clearly staying active beyond Netflix and Cyberpunk 2077.

This crossover gives David and Lucy another major gaming stage and potentially introduces Edgerunners to a different multiplayer audience.

Respawn Has Not Announced the Event Date Yet

Respawn has not confirmed a start date for the crossover at the time of writing. That leaves the teaser doing most of the work for now. Still, between the official artwork and the growing number of leaks around possible cosmetics and map changes, the event already looks like one of Apex Legends’ most attention-grabbing collaborations in some time.

For now, fans are waiting for Respawn to show the real content. The Moon teaser may have brought David and Lucy back into view, but the bigger question is how far Apex Legends is willing to go with Night City.
