Ashes of the Singularity II Release Date Set for November 10

Stardock has confirmed that Ashes of the Singularity II will launch for PC on November 10, bringing its massive-scale real-time strategy battles back with three competing factions and armies numbering in the thousands.

The sequel puts humanity in an increasingly uncomfortable position. The technologically superior Post-Human Coalition has abandoned physical bodies, while rogue artificial intelligence has established the machine civilisation known as the AI Substrate.

In response, Earth’s nations have put their differences aside to establish the United Earth Forces, which cannot necessarily match either rival unit for unit. Instead, the faction relies on large armies, conventional military experience and coordinated strategies to compensate. All three factions will be playable outside the campaign through skirmishes and multiplayer, each offering its own units and approach to warfare.

Thousands of Units Can Clash Across Massive Battlefields

Scale remains one of Ashes of the Singularity II’s defining features. Players can command thousands of units simultaneously across large battlefields, with Strategic Zoom allowing commanders to pull back from individual engagements towards a wider view of the conflict.

The focus is also intended to remain on logistics and broader battlefield decisions instead of demanding constant micromanagement of individual troops. Terrain will play its part too, with armies fighting across frozen lakes, mountain passes and lava-filled environments. Persistent battlefield damage can alter those spaces as engagements continue.

It puts Ashes of the Singularity II alongside Stardock’s wider slate of large-scale strategy games, which recently included the rule-breaking Eidolon faction in Sins of a Solar Empire II: Harbinger.

Campaign, Competitive Multiplayer and Co-Op Are Included

The single-player campaign follows the United Earth Forces as humanity attempts to survive the expansion of the Post-Human Coalition and machinations of the AI Substrate. Players wanting less scripted warfare can instead generate custom battlefields for skirmishes against computer-controlled opponents, head online for competitive matches or team up through cooperative multiplayer.

Stardock says it has continued adjusting gameplay, balance, performance and multiplayer stability following feedback gathered through its Steam Next Fest demo and September public multiplayer playtest.

Ashes of the Singularity II will cost US$39.99 through Steam and Stardock, with a launch discount running from November 10 to November 17. The exact discounted price has not been announced. A Premium Edition priced at US$69.99 will bundle the base game with its first three DLC packs and soundtrack.
