Astroneer Aeoluz Unlocked Update Adds Custom Game and Dedicated Server Support

As of today, hit space exploration sandbox title Astroneer has received a major update to its Glitchwalkers DLC. Dubbed Aeoluz Unlocked after the planet the DLC primarily takes place on, it adds many features that have been on fans’ minds for some time now, such as custom games and dedicated servers.

The term custom game is used somewhat differently than its traditional meaning, as it doesn’t refer to a sandbox mode akin to Halo: Forge; instead, it refers to starting a new game with a custom ruleset. In order to access a custom game, the player must complete the base game, including the Glitchwalkers DLC content, then jump through the portal. Upon doing so players will then be able to start Aeoluz saves with customizable settings like toggling firewalls, storms and setting virus protection levels.

The update also introduces dedicated servers, which can host both new and old Aeoluz saves for multiplayer experiences. It’s also worth noting that only the host is required to have the DLC for normal multiplayer servers, but for servers specifically set in the Aeoluz system, every member on the server must have the DLC.

A number of bug fixes have been introduced to the game, including fixing an issue with players spawning in the Core, the D-cipher consuming storm data past the intended protection level, issues with collision regarding the Rover Seat B model, icons and UI language fixes. There were a number of multiplayer-focused bug fixes as well centred primarily on fixing miscellaneous cosmetic issues with vaults.

A new cosmetic bundle called the Funguy Bundle has been added, allowing players to dress their player characters in mushroom-adorned spacesuits. To celebrate the 1.0 anniversary, an anniversary item called Mk VI has been added to the in-game store for players to join in on the celebration.

There will be more coming to Astroneer for the rest of the year, with the developers continuing to work on new content.
