As the industry moves towards a model of more immediate reveals and releases, there are still outliers that buck the trend. Take Pragmata, for example, the sci-fi action game was first announced by Capcom in 2020, but it has undergone multiple delays and has been silent since 2023. Now, five years later, it has reemerged as part of the PlayStation State of Play presentation.
Pragmata will be launching on the PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S in 2026, at least, that’s the hope. Aside from the new trailer, we also get a blog post explaining more about the game.
Promising a “unique twist of action and strategy” for its gameplay, we see the two main characters engaging in exploration and combat. Hugh and Diana, who just so happen to find each other, must now work together to eliminate a rogue AI on the lunar station they find themselves on in order to make it back to Earth.
Each character will have their own abilities, and they will have to be controlled to do different things, all at the same time. That already sounds like a daunting task. According to director Cho Yonghee, “this two-in-one approach, where Hacking is key to your success, is our own unique take on combat that you’ll only find here — in Pragmata“.
How that will translate into gameplay for the entirety of the game is the key question here. We see plenty of hacking action and combat, but hopefully, there will be more variety for players to keep things fresh.
The backstories of Hugh and the android Diana are also intriguing. If Capcom can flesh out their narratives and give players more of a reason to care, then there is even more reason for you to dive into the game.
The wait to 2026 is still long, but after so many years, it really doesn’t matter anymore. Here’s hoping that Pragmata actually hits the 2026 window, and give us more of the Capcom goodness via another fresh IP.
