Cristiano Ronaldo Joins Fatal Fury City of the Wolves As Playable Fighter

While video games and football both have fervent fandoms who are invested in their choice of entertainment, a crossover that no one expected will see the two worlds converge. SNK Corporation has announced that renowned footballer Cristiano Ronaldo will be appearing in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which launches on April 24.

How that will pan out remains to be seen, but it will be the first time that a sports personality has made their way into a fighting video game. Guest characters are a norm, but this is definitely one of the most surprising inclusions of all time.

Based on the announcement and gameplay trailer for the Ronaldo x Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves crossover, the fighter will be using the ball and tricks as attacks. Stepovers, sliding tackles, and obviously powerful shots are all part of his repertoire, including for his finisher. The studio even got his signature celebration in the game for good measure.

Whether any players will be looking to main Ronaldo will depend on the rest of the roster and the corresponding meta, and that will all unfold come April 24.

As for the rest of the game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves introduces a stunning, comic-inspired art style that’s a visual treat for series fans, combined with fights fueled by the cutting-edge REV System to deliver dynamic matches.

The game’s second Open Beta test will take place from March 26 – 31, featuring Tizoc as an additional playable character and an offline Training mode. The open beta offers the public an opportunity to experience the modernised action of City of the Wolves at home, featuring two distinct control schemes tailored to engage both newcomers and seasoned pros.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store on April 24.
