Doom: The Dark Ages Unleashes Hell With Wrestlemania 41 Trailer

Through Its Latest Trailer, the Dark Ages Reveals More of Its Story Elements, Positioning Itself As a Prequel to the 2016 Series Entry.

Brutal and badass — these two adjectives have always been synonymous with every new release in the modern Doom series. Since the franchise was revitalised in 2016, id Software has masterfully brought the legendary first-person shooter back to life. Fast-paced combat, intense atmosphere, a surprisingly engaging demon-slaying narrative, and adrenaline-pumping metal music have made Doom a cornerstone of action gaming once more. Now, the Slayer is back in Doom: The Dark Ages.

After making a fierce first impression with its debut trailer, Bethesda and id Software have released a brand-new trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages, this time shifting focus to one key element: its narrative.

As previously confirmed, The Dark Ages is not a direct sequel but rather a prequel to the Doom reboot. It aims to bridge the narrative gap between the conclusion of Doom 64 and the opening moments of Doom (2016), a period that has long sparked curiosity among fans.

The latest trailer offers a deeper look into the lore that will serve as the foundation for the upcoming game. While set against a darker, more medieval backdrop, The Dark Ages maintains the signature intensity of Doom combat. The Slayer’s arsenal has been expanded with powerful new weaponry, including the addition of a parry mechanic using the massive shield, promising even more dynamic and strategic battles.

We also catch a glimpse of a mysterious, intelligent demon figure who appears poised to serve as the game’s primary antagonist. Although still unnamed, this character’s presence suggests a more personal and possibly ideological confrontation. The trailer also shows off those large-scale battles featuring towering mechs and rideable dragons too, adding epic scope to the already high-octane action.

Doom: The Dark Ages is officially set to launch on May 15, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. With its blend of raw intensity and deeper storytelling, the Slayer’s next chapter is shaping up to be a worthy addition to the franchise.
