EA Sports FC 27 ICONs Add a New Class of Football Legends
EA Sports has revealed the new Class of ’27 ICONs coming to EA Sports FC 27, adding another group of retired football greats to Football Ultimate Team. The new class includes Sergio Agüero, Christine Sinclair, Pepe and Raphaël Varane, alongside several other notable names from both the men’s and women’s game.
Lúcio and Yaya Touré are also being elevated from their previous Hero status to full ICON status, reflecting another reshuffle in how EA categorises some of football’s most celebrated former players.
Agüero, Sinclair and Pepe Lead the Class of ’27
The new ICON lineup spans multiple generations and regions. On the men’s side, the Class of ’27 includes Agüero, Pepe, Varane and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Women’s football is represented by Formiga, Hege Riise, Yūki Nagasato, Tobin Heath, Ellen White and Christine Sinclair.
Sinclair’s inclusion is especially notable as she becomes the first Canadian to receive ICON status in EA Sports FC.
“Winning Canada’s first major international title was something we had worked toward for so long,” Sinclair said. “To have that moment become part of my ICON story, and hopefully inspire the next generation, means a lot.”
Pepe also reflected on his inclusion, pointing to the intensity and commitment that defined his career.
Lúcio and Yaya Touré Move Up From Hero Status
EA is also bringing back several familiar ICONs for EA Sports FC 27. Zinedine Zidane, Ruud Gullit, Fernando Torres, Gianluca Zambrotta, Andrea Pirlo and Bastian Schweinsteiger all return, while Lúcio and Yaya Touré now move from Hero cards into the ICON category.
That gives the Class of ’27 a mix of completely new additions and reclassified favourites, while preserving several of the series’ most popular legends.
Players who pre-order the Ultimate Edition or Ultimate Plus Edition by August 31 can receive an untradeable 85+ OVR International ICON Player Pack containing one of the 18 new or returning ICONs.
EA Sports FC Mobile Gets New ICONs Today
The Class of ’27 is also arriving in EA Sports FC Mobile. The new men’s ICONs are available through in-game Challenges, where players can work through four PvE matches inspired by defining moments from their careers.
Completing those challenges rewards special versions of the featured ICONs, giving mobile players a separate route to experience the new additions. With the new Class of ’27 now revealed, the usual debates over who deserves ICON status are likely to be just as lively as the ratings arguments already surrounding this year’s game.
EA Sports FC 27 launches on September 25, with early access for the Ultimate Edition and Ultimate Plus Edition beginning on September 18.
