GTA VI PC Release Reportedly Targeted for Q1 2027
PC players may not have to wait nearly as long for Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI as they did for its predecessor, with a new report claiming the game is currently targeted for computers in Q1 2027.
According to GamesBeat, four industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans independently pointed to a release within the first three months of 2027. Rockstar did not respond to the publication’s request for comment before the report was published.
If accurate, that would put the PC version only a few months behind the console release. GTA VI officially launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Rockstar still listing only those two platforms publicly.
GTA VI Could Reach PC Much Faster Than GTA V
That would represent a major change from Rockstar’s previous release cadence. Grand Theft Auto V originally launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, while its PC version did not arrive until April 2015, roughly 19 months later.
By comparison, a Q1 2027 launch for GTA VI could reduce that gap to somewhere between around two and four months, depending on the eventual date. There has long been an expectation that GTA VI will eventually reach PC.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said earlier this year that the PC market remains important to the publisher and that “virtually all” of its hit games ultimately reach multiple platforms over time. However, he was also careful to reiterate that Rockstar had only announced GTA VI for consoles.
More recently, Zelnick again described PC as an increasingly important platform while discussing Take-Two’s general release strategy, without announcing GTA VI for it specifically.
Rockstar Has Yet to Announce for PC
For now, the GamesBeat report remains the first substantial indication of a potential release window rather than an official announcement. The publication also notes that any PC release would still need to meet Rockstar’s quality standards before being pushed live, particularly after the studio repeatedly demonstrated its willingness to delay GTA VI itself for additional polish.
That caveat is particularly relevant given the game’s history. GTA VI was initially expected in 2025 before moving first to May 2026 and eventually November 19. Rockstar has since expanded its official marketing considerably, including an extended look at Leonida, Jason and Lucia, while recent leaks have continued to expose material the studio would rather reveal on its own terms.
Until Rockstar confirms otherwise, PC players should therefore treat Q1 2027 as a reported target rather than a locked release window. If the insider sources are correct, however, the days of waiting well over a year for Rockstar’s biggest games to reach PC may finally be coming to an end.
