Castlevania 40th Anniversary Makes the Original Game Free on Mobile
Konami Digital Entertainment is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Castlevania with a month of giveaways, discounts and music, starting with the original game being made free on mobile.
The first entry is now free to download on the App Store and Google Play, with the promotion running until October 24. It marks the beginning of a wider celebration for a series that first debuted in 1986 and has since grown far beyond Simon Belmont’s first confrontation with Dracula.
Alongside the free mobile release, Konami has also launched discounts of up to 80% across several collections on PlayStation and Steam.
Collections Are Up to 80% Off
The PlayStation sale runs until October 7, with Castlevania Anniversary Collection discounted by 80%, Castlevania Advance Collection by 70%, Castlevania Dominus Collection by 50%, and Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood by 70%.
Steam players have until October 8, with the Anniversary, Advance and Dominus collections receiving the same respective 80%, 70% and 50% discounts. Pricing and availability may differ depending on region.
That gives newcomers a broad route into the series, spanning its earliest outings through several handheld entries that helped shape the Metroidvania formula.
Legendary Music Heads to Streaming and the Concert Hall
Konami is also spotlighting the series’ music. Tracks from Black & Red will arrive on selected streaming platforms from September 26, while the Castlevania 40th Anniversary An Orchestral Concert is scheduled for Spring 2027.
The concert will be staged in Tokyo, Los Angeles and London, although exact dates have yet to be announced.
Belmont’s Curse Continues the Anniversary Year
The celebrations also lead directly into the franchise’s next game, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, which launches on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and Nintendo Switch.
Set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after the third game, the game follows Rose Belmont, Trevor Belmont’s daughter, as she battles through the city’s burning streets and Dracula’s castle using weapons including the Vampire Killer whip.

With a free game, heavy discounts, new soundtrack releases, live orchestral performances and a brand-new entry arriving within weeks, Konami is giving Castlevania a fairly busy 40th birthday.
