Konami’s renewed effort to revisit its classic franchises continues to gain traction, and fans of stealth-action titles have a good reason to be excited. Among its most anticipated projects is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the iconic Metal Gear Solid 3, which is the foundational entry that sets the stage for the series’ complex lore. Despite the absence of original creator Hideo Kojima, Konami is pushing ahead with bold ideas. And now, it seems the remake isn’t just about visual fidelity or modernised gameplay, it’s also introducing something completely new.
Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will feature a brand-new online multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt. This addition signals a deeper reimagining of the title, aimed at adapting to the drastically evolved gaming landscape since the days of Metal Gear Online.
While details remain scarce, Konami has described Fox Hunt as a mode that blends the franchise’s hallmark stealth and survival mechanics into a new form of “hide-and-seek” gameplay, focusing on camouflage and evasion. The mode aims to elevate the classic cat-and-mouse tension to a new level, encouraging tactical play over brute force.
The Fox Hunt mode is being spearheaded by Yu Sahara, a veteran designer who previously worked on several major Metal Gear titles, including Metal Gear Solid 4, Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, and The Phantom Pain. Though only brief snippets of gameplay have been shared so far, early footage hints at dynamic environmental blending, where players can seamlessly camouflage with their surroundings, suggesting a fresh and immersive approach to multiplayer stealth.
Rather than focusing on chaotic firefights, Fox Hunt appears to emphasise patience, strategy, and espionage, the core values of the Metal Gear franchise. With more information promised in the near future, fans are eager to see how this new mode will fit into the broader experience.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled for release on August 28 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
