Monster Hunter Outlanders Release Date Set for October 29

Capcom, TiMi Studio Group and Garena have confirmed that Monster Hunter Outlanders will launch on October 29 for iOS and Android, bringing a new survival-focused take on the long-running hunting series to mobile.

Licensed and supervised by Capcom, developed by TiMi Studio Group and published by Garena in Southeast Asia, Monster Hunter Outlanders is designed around the familiar loop of exploring, tracking monsters and taking them down, while adapting the experience for shorter sessions and touchscreen controls.

It arrives as Monster Hunter continues expanding well beyond its traditional console audience. The mainline series has been busy too, with Monster Hunter Wilds continuing to evolve through updates and expansions, while the upcoming Ascendance expansion is already reworking its endgame difficulty for more experienced hunters.

Classic and Adventure Controls Cater to Different Hunters

One of the bigger questions surrounding Monster Hunter Outlanders has been how TiMi intends to translate the series’ deliberate combat to mobile.

Players will have two control configurations to choose from. Classic is intended to offer the more traditional setup, while Adventure is designed to help newcomers get comfortable with the game more quickly.

That focus on accessibility is not entirely foreign to the series. We found similar efforts to smooth out the learning curve in our Monster Hunter Wilds review, although Monster Hunter Outlanders has the additional challenge of making its hunting systems work convincingly on a phone.

Pre-registration is now available through the App Store and Google Play ahead of launch.

Ruger Aidal Takes Centre Stage in New Footage

The latest Tokyo Game Show trailer also gives us a better look at Ruger Aidal, a new monster shown descending through the clouds before confronting hunters with its sharp golden wings.

There are glimpses of several playable adventurers as well. Freya can be seen hunting alongside her buddy, newcomer Haze gets some time in combat, while the protagonist faces an Azure Rathalos using a hammer.

Traversal also appears to play a larger role than simply running between encounters. The footage shows hunters using features including the Gliding Challenge and Wind Platform to move between areas, reinforcing the broader exploration focus TiMi is building around the hunts.

Monster Hunter Continues Its Mobile Expansion

Monster Hunter Outlanders arrives as the wider franchise passes 131 million cumulative sales as of June 30, giving TiMi a sizeable audience to work with while also trying to attract players who may never have tackled a traditional Monster Hunter game.

Whether the familiar combat loop translates successfully to mobile remains the bigger question, but we will not have long to wait.
